It is time to kick off your shoes and…
JUST. PLAY.

We will PAINT.

We will COLLAGE.
We will SCRIBBLE and DOODLE.
We will STAMP and STENCIL.
We will CREATE WITH JOY and FEARLESS ABANDON!!!

This is for you if you…

  • Love mixed media & art journalling
  • Want to experiment with lots of techniques and supplies…
  • Love getting your hands covered in paint and ink!
  • Need to take a break from life, kids, work… And need some deserved ME time…
  • Can’t wait to have fun with like-minded creatives in a supportive environment…

Join the Mixed Media Playground now!

What will we do…?

PLAY. PLAY. and PLAY SOME MORE in my little studio!!!

To me, mixed media is all about playing, experimenting and being open to new (and any) possibilities!
I will go through lots of ways to create backgrounds, focal points and how to add final touches to your art.
We’ll get messy and I will encourage you along the way to follow your own intuition and add your own touch…
And don’t worry, I will support you so there is no need to feel worried or scared!

Tell me more…!

The goal of this mega workshop will be to create tons of gorgeous pages using various techniques, supplies and tools to create backgrounds, layers, focal points and final touches.

We’ll have some fun with acrylic paint, alcohol inks, crayons, modelling paste, gel plates, stencils, stamps, liquid pearls, stickles… We’ll play with cardstock, shipping tags, deli paper, tissue paper, photo paper… And much more! No time to get bored 😉

At the end of the workshop you will bind all your pages together into a TOTALLY UNIQUE & PERSONAL ART JOURNAL you will take home with you. Your special journal will be a beautiful work of art you can keep using later by adding more paint, embellishments, quotes and doodles!

Most art supplies and light refreshments will be provided for you on both days.

This will be an intimate workshop so SEATS ARE VERY LIMITED!!!

  2. Well had a blast at Part 1 of Mimi’s Mixed Media Workshop. We played with everything you can think of from acrylic paints to alcohol inks. I surprised myself with the results. But the best thing was just having fun trying out different techniques and easy ways to break a blank page. Thanks Mimi. You’re a legend. Made it so much fun in a relaxed and gorgeous set up with all your beautiful colourful work around us. Very inspiring. Hanging out for Part 2 and more fun. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

  3. Hello Mimi,

Well I did it. I bit the bullet and am booked into your MM Playground Workshop and after reading these wonderful reviews I simply can’t wait. Relatively new and too tentative I look forward to joining the group and enjoying the wonder space you provide. The pics are amazing and think I’ll feel like a kid in a candy shop. So looking forward to a much needed break from too much trauma. Going to make a week of it so any tips on accommodation would be gratefully accepted. I think I read somewhere that you mention that. I’ve also bought 2 of your gorgeous books. So looking forward to the fun and hanging out with you and the group. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

  5. What a wonderful two days we had!!! Mimi is a great teacher – she knows her stuff, and can explain herself well. She is encouraging and adapts to the abilities and understandings of her students. Everything was aimed at enjoyable participation, with some finished pages, but also with much more to encourage us to continue playing at home.
I definitely recommend Mimi’s Playground to anyone who wants to create in a relaxing, unthreatening atmosphere learning new techniques, and revisiting old ones in new ways.

Cynthia R: I really enjoyed the weekend. I got a lot of good ideas for backgrounds. I learnt a lot of new techniques. It was interesting to see the many different results the class had using the same supplies. I have been using the techniques you showed us. I particularly like the results of using a dry brush. I have been busy creating my own deck of mixed media inspiration cards. Thank you for making it so informative and enjoyable!

  7. Being new to Mixed Media I felt a bit overwhelmed of where to start. So I simply jumped into it and Mimi’s Mixed Media Playground is just the place to start with a colorful splash. It is so much fun to try out a lot of different mediums and papers in a small group setting. In conjunction with Mimi’s vibrant and positive style I learned simple techniques for building layer upon layer as well as tricks of how to ‘rescue mishaps’.
I am already looking forward to return to Mixed Media Playground #2 !!

  8. My friend and I recently did the two day Playground Workshop at Mimi Bondi’s Central Coast studio.
Prior to our arrival, Mimi sent us some handy information on the local area including places we could stay or go to for a bite to eat.
The studio is pretty much HEAVEN. Colourful, inviting, super comfortable and a joy to work in. Lots of Mimi’s lovely, lovely artwork was on display to inspire us. Drinks (tea, coffee and hot chocolate) and bikkies were provided.
The Playground Workshop was run for six participants and we found that this was just the right amount of people. Enough people to bounce ideas off and be creative, without being overwhelming.
Mimi is an incredibly welcoming host and is also a fantastic teacher. During the two days, Mimi walked us through a whole range of mixed media techniques and allowed for lots of hands on play between each one.
She was so encouraging when we were creating our own pieces based on what we had learnt and even supplied us with a cute goodie bag of various papers and tags. We used these papers and tags throughout the two days to create our artwork on and then we learnt how to put them together in a personalised canvas cover to form a wonderful memento.
The two day workshop was fun and relaxing. Filled with lots of laughs and a great way to spend a weekend. We really enjoyed the whole experience.
I would definitely recommend taking one (or 2, 3 or 6) of Mimi’s workshops. We loved it so much that we are planning on making the trip an annual adventure.
An awesome experience and you also go home with something wonderful that you’ve made and with lots of great memories.

Thank you so much Mimi, you are amazing.
