Heavenly art journal tutorial (ST38)

Feeling rusty!

Lately, the last thing on my mind was creating heavenly art journal pages lol
My head has been buzzing with a new exciting project I can’t quite talk about yet…
And let’s not forget the release of my 2nd book ”Secret Stash”!!!
It’s not really a ‘book’ as such though, please check it out and let me know if you love or hate the idea 🙂

In between all the work craziness, I have also been dealing with house renovations…
Pete and I (and fluffy Poppy too of course!) were supposed to go away for a week but, we ended up staying home to renovate every day.
Yay. Not. Really.

If Pete and I weren’t so stubborn, we would pay someone to do the work for us but… We are both the kind of people who think ‘if we can do it (or learn how to do it) ourselves, why get someone else to do it?”.
Commendable I guess… But of course everything takes 10 times longer 😉

it’s been 7 months since we kind of moved in and the disaster zone will eventually stop, right? lol
And if you need someone to tile your bathroom, demolish walls or ceilings, patching holes etc then I’m your girl 😉
(Just give me a few months for each project hahaha)

Now all that stuff didn’t leave me a moment to sit at my art table to create anything for a while so it was really time to open up my art journal…

How did I get to my heavenly art journal spread?

Well, I was adding colours over some leftover Dylusions inks and playing with stencils… And eventually was led to using that set of Pentel oil pastels I bought ages ago but hadn’t really touched… And suddenly I had this gorgeous abstract journal spread that felt so harmonious I didn’t want to add anymore to it!
Except… for my magical Opal Dust which turned my pages into heavenly art journal pages!!!

Watch the video below and let me know your thoughts at the bottom of this page…

Love to you my Creative Friend,

Mimi.

  1. Gorgeous page and fabulous process! Thank you for sharing! Do the pages stick together after the journal has been closed for a while?

Thanks so much Leslie! Sometimes they do but you can rub a white candle over the pages to avoid that issue (I did a video about it a while back) 😉

  2. I love this and the process! Thank you for sharing! Do the pages stick together after the journal has been closed a while?

Thank you Leslie! Mine don’t as I use a candle to prevent it if needed. Look for my video about it 😉

  3. I love the colors and all the stencils you used in your video. Can you share the links to the supplies used and the art journey in your video?

Thanks Julie! You will find the supplies used on the blog post 🙂

  4. Mimi, my husband and I are now living in a house that we totally gutted and put back together ourselves. It does take longer but I know it is done right and we saved thousand of dollars by doing it ourselves. So hang in there it will be worth it in the end.
Love your art and the new book.

You are my hero Jaci! It has been a real test of patience and I appreciate your encouragement 🙂 Thank you so much xx

  5. I still haven’t tried those amazing Dylusional paints. I must be the only person in North America that hasn’t used them. Your pages turned out beautiful and I thank you for the video and perhaps when I find some money I can find some paint. Love the videos.
