The Journey Within: make art journals for a year!

by | My life as an artist | 2 comments

You guys,
I have some exciting news to share with you today!

I was invited to be a guest teacher in a fantastic hands-on course called ‘The Journey Within: A Year of Handmade Art Journals‘. It is run by lovely book maker and mixed media artist Kiala Givehand, along with 17 teachers in total.
Wow, this is going to be epic 🙂

I'm a teacher of "The Journey Within'' mixed media course

Here are some  details about the course:

It starts on 1st January 2016 and goes for the entire year (although you can do it for just 3 months at a time if you prefer).
Every month, Kiala will teach you how to make your own handmade art journal (yes to that!) and will give you prompts, tips, and techniques for filling the pages.

What a great way to keep on growing as an artist and develop your style and skills further!

Throughout the year (or quarter), you will also get to meet lots of guest teachers who will share their take on the themes, prompts and their art journaling process – and hey! I’m one of those lucky guest teachers 😉

Let’s give Kiala a challenge to get her warmed up… and maybe you too??

To kick off this amazing course, Kiala has created a handmade book/art journal of her own for the month of December and asked each guest teacher to give her a challenge to complete during the month. Today she attempts my challenge!! Here’s what I asked her to do:

”Create your own colourful ”Spinning” journal spread by following my video tutorial here: ‘

He he 🙂 This is the first episode in my growing number of free mixed media tutorials and I can’t wait to see what her take on it is!

What about you? Would you like to take the challenge as well? If you are, make sure to post a photo in my private Facebook group here, even if you did this tutorial months ago. It would be fun to put all the photos side by side and compare our different styles and interpretations 🙂

Now, if you are ready (and even if you aren’t!), join us for this amazing adventure that Kiala has created for us and have your most creative year yet! Registration opens today 🙂
