My turquoise Christmas tree! Mimi Bondi

Hello Creative Friends!!
This is Mimi Bondi and Poppy in da house! Well, actually in da studio… 🙂
Poppy’s not looking impressed by my antics and I don’t know if he’s going to be of much help here…

I got a turquoise Christmas tree!

As you may already know, I am up to my neck in house renovations and despite our good efforts, the house is not quite Christmas-ready yet so…
Today, I decided to put up a new Christmas tree in my studio instead (still a work in progress too).
Can you believe it’s my favourite colour: turquoise?!
I couldn’t either when I saw it in the shop but I knew I just had to buy it, especially as it was the perfect size (not too big, not too small).

Ok, let’s put it together, shall we?

You are lucky to be experiencing the magic of video because this required a lot of patience  hahaha
There was a storm brewing in the background so it was really humid and I don’t think I’ve ever sweated so much working on a Christmas tree…
As you may know, I was born in France where I spent my first 20 years or so and where it is cold and snowing in December… And after all my years living in Australia, I still haven’t got used to a hot Christmas. It just doesn’t feel right to have a barbecue outside in flip flops when you know your French family is cozying up by the fire 😉

Anyway… I think this Turquoise Christmas tree is going to look good so I won’t give up on it!

After what felt like ages, I’m finally done… Phew (I’m actually wiping my brow!).
But I didn’t like the cheap plastic stand that came with it so I found an unused flower pot in the shed that will look better (well, it’s ugly too but maybe with some ribbons…??).
I taped up the holes at the bottom and filled it up with sand to give my tree more stability and it looks better already.

In my Christmas decoration box, I also found my big Christmas sock with my name on it! Isn’t it adorable? It’s looking a little empty though so Santa, if you’re listening, maybe you could put something in there?

Now the fun part: the Christmas decorations

Let’s move on to tinsels and baubles… The fun bit 😉
I’m sticking with a subdued blue, white and silver theme here (a little designer style, don’t you think?) then a big silver star to top it off and… Voila! My beachy Christmas tree is done!

Check out the video below to see me in action!
I hope you enjoyed this little titbit from my life and would love to hear your comments at the bottom of this page.

Love and Sunshine,
Mimi Bondi

PS: Of course I couldn’t resist adding a little more colour in the end…!!
No matter how much I love my turquoise Christmas tree, it just felt ‘too blue’ 😉
