Desert Mirage

Desert Mirage was inspired by the warmth and stillness of the desert — that quiet, open space where everything feels both simple and expansive at the same time.

I was drawn to the contrast between the rugged landscape and the softness of the light. The mountains sit in the distance, strong and steady, while the sky and clouds keep things light and moving.

The colours are intentionally vibrant, not to be realistic, but to capture the feeling of heat, light, and that slightly surreal atmosphere you get in wide, open places.

It’s a painting that feels calm but full of quiet energy at the same time — like the desert itself.

For me, it’s about slowing down, taking it all in, and noticing that even in the most minimal landscapes, there’s still so much beauty to find.

This original painting was created on high-quality, thick paper (450gsm), with a subtle canvas texture for added depth.

I added gorgeous shimmery highlights that dance and gleam when the light catches – a delightful surprise that truly shines in person as metallics are impossible to capture on camera!

It is A3 size (297 x 420 mm) with a white border all around, and easily fits into standard frames. It comes unframed but would look fantastic in any style of frame – see examples in the photo gallery.
