Take some of myĀ stress release medicine!
Stress release I hear you say? What stress? I’m not stressed, I’m just fine… Hem, mhhh…
You know that feeling when you have so many things going on and not enough time to do them all?
Yeah, that makes me feel a wee bit stressed too as I feel like I have been playing catch up with my life lately…
Nothing negative, don’t worry my lovely friends, just a lot on my ‘to do’ list š
I decided my mental health was more important than worriesĀ so I stopped everything I was doingĀ and switched to my favourite stress release tool: painting!
I opened up my big art journal (I think the larger your surface, the more you can loosen up) and just got on with it…
No plans! The only thing that came to mind was ‘hearts’. Not sure why… Maybe my heart was telling me to take care of myself?
With hearts I started and the rest just slowly flowed to create a vibrant, bold painting I love!!
Watch the video below and I’d love to hear your thoughts on this: scroll down the page and leave me aĀ commentĀ so I don’t feel alone alone on this website š
Love to you my Creative Friend,
Mimi.

Thank you lovely Anuradha!! It’s ok, part of being an artist is to be able to create with whatever we have š xx
For quite awhile I have been under stress because I have been ill and just until a few days ago, doctors couldn’t find out why. Now I know that a have a very severe and rare spine disorder and have to see a neurosurgeon. I really NEEDED one of your videos because it occupies my mind and brings me joy! I soon hope to be able to get back to my crafts………….I so need something like that, but until then……..keep making videos..I love your free spirit! God bless you for blessing me.
Dear Sharon, it pains me to hear these awful news š š š I’m glad to hear this video came at the right time for you. Even if you are unable to paint right now, you can still paint in your mind and plan what you’re going to create very soon. Sending you lots of love Sharon! xxx mimi
I found myself asking, ” now what is she doing?” Lol I absolutely love your work and videos. I still struggle with ‘finger painting’. I just need to loosen up and play, I am not creative and love watching your videos and creating along
I find myself asking the same Sheila lol Have you checked out my book and e-course? I made them for people just like you, to help you bold confidence and learn painting and mixed media without pressure, from scratch ? http://mimibondi.com/beginner-mixed-media-book-videos xx mimi
PS – That’s a beautiful gold, -mine’s not nearly so blingy! Well that’s another item on the shopping list š
The better brands tend to have better quality pigments Helen ?
I love this. I am an impatient doodler and much prefer the freedom of finger painting. The whole point of journalling for me is to loosen up because I tend to over work stuff and get tighter so this is ideal for me to try. š I like your reminder to Randi that this is a time lapse video. This is a very important point. Because the videos are fast I automatically find myself rushing and then it’s not relaxing which totally ruins the creativity!! š
Hi Helen, I’m glad you found that reminder helpful, I should remind people more often actually! The free videos are not like my online workshops which are in real time, with explanations the whole time. I’m not that patient either so I know how you feel! Looking forward to seeing your take in the Facebook group š xx
Love it so much Mimi, I so needed to smile and be happy. Your video’s always fill my heart with joy and happiness. I can’t wait to get your book No Shenanigans in the mail, so I can begin to light my soul on fire with your beautiful whimsical art pieces.
Thank you so much for your lovely words Julie, I really appreciate this!! I’m not sure where you ordered from but I hope my book will get to you very quickly! If you haven’t already, dont’ forget to join the support group on Facebook to post photos of your creations (from the book) and for support if you have questions at any point https://www.facebook.com/groups/mixedmediatribe xxx mimi
i hate to keep sounding like this … but… it seems to just flow from your fingers…so hard for me to get over to the desk….. don t know what i am so afraid of!
Randi, remember this is a timelapse video and I cut out the drying parts and the thinking parts which sometimes take a while! It’s easy to think I just do it all it one go without pausing but that’s not always the case. Most people are afraid to start mostly because they have high expectations of having to create something beautiful. Art journaling is not about that, it’s about the PROCESS not the destination! You need to change how you think and take baby steps WITHOUT thinking of the end result. If you haven’t already, please do check my book, e-course and online workshops where I guide you through a whole painting: you will have nothing to do but follow me. You will be surprised at what you can accomplish, I promise! Beautiful! You make it look so easy, Mimi!
It is easy Mags, when you can let go š Remember it’s all about the process, I didn’t care too much about how it would look in the end š
Thank you so much Mimi. I am having a very stressful week after having a holiday and too much to do now I’m back. I have just watched the video and it looks such fun. I am going to finish essential jobs today and then give myself permission to take a couple of hours out to paint!
Sounds like you need it Sue! Nothing worse than that feeling of having to catch up on everything after willingly forgetting about it for a while ?
Beautiful it glows! Definitely inspired now
Hooray for inspiration, it’s the best feeling! Xx
Hi Mimi! This was exactly what I needed. I am so stressed this days, 1000 thoughts in my head and nothing done… Thank you so much for this inspiration ā„
Hugs, Anita from Norway ā„
Oh that’s not good Anita!! I know how you feel though, the best way to stop all these thoughts at least for a while is to paint freely ? xx
Beautiful as usual. You are so inspiring ! You keep adding color and more color and it gets better and better ! Thank you so much for sharing. It really helps us going into stressful issues in our lives Thank you, thank you. Hugs, Linda.
Thank you so much Linda!! It got to a scary stage as I tried out that burgundy tube I bought probably 10 years ago hahaha So glad to hear it’s helping Linda š xxx
now that was inspiring!!!1 I need to pass this on to some friends love your 1000th subscriber
So glad I inspired you Vickie!! Please do share the post with your friends and have a ‘stress release’ painting party! (I want pictures hehe) š
Thanks, Mimi! I am in need of stress release, so I think I’m going to try a no stress piece tonight. As a beginner, I put a lot of pressure on myself to “do it right” (maybe there’s a little perfectionism in there too!), so thanks for the reminder that their doesn’t have to be a deeper purpose than to just enjoy the process and whatever you create!
That’s exactly right Wendy! Art doesn’t HAVE TO have a deep purpose. Why can’t it be about positive things like love, happiness and fun (which have a very deep meaning too by the way). Forget about the museums and the ‘it must be serious to be taken seriously’ kind of artists and just embrace art!! xx
Love the freedom of this stress free painting. Thank you Mimi.
I hope it will inspire you for when you have a ‘grumpy’ day š
